Swimming, The Shaky Hands, Cooly G, Dimbleby & Capper, Fur Hood, Gold Blood, Zebra & Snake, Mr Sushi, Shengi and 88 Days @ Cargo

Friday 6 November 2009 at 7:00pm

Last.fm Presents returns to Cargo Free Fridays in November with yet another superb line up which has been chosen from Last.fm’s weekly hype charts featuring some of the freshest sounds around!
Leading the charge are Swimming, a five-piece collective of school friends from Nottingham who have been fast gaining a reputation amongst other shows, appearing on our Last.fm stage at Lovebox this summer. We enjoyed their set so much we’ve invited them back to show exactly why leading magazines such as The Fly, Rock Sound and Artrocker are all over them.

Cooly G is the pin-up of the UK Funky scene bubbling away here in London. Fresh from the release of her debut single on the ultra cool Hyperdub label, she’s been crafting some of the best lo-fi techno infused house we’ve heard of late.

Dimbleby & Capper is another female producer/ singer songwriter we’re getting very excited about. Following a storming set at Glastonbury this summer she has drawn regular support from Radio 1 tastemakers like Steve Lamac and Huw Stevens.

As if that wasn’t enough, we’ve picked three brand new bands who we think you’ll be hearing much more of in 2010. Kick-starting with ‘Synth-Italo-Pop-Rock’ duo Gold Blood, Glasgow’s Fur Hood (who are making the trip down for you especially!) and Zebra & Snake, we’ve got six of the UK’s brightest talent on one stage.

Filling the gaps we have Botchit & Scarper’s Mr Sushi, Shengi and DJs from one of our favourite blogs 88 Days. That’s one tidy night out. All for the princely sum of nish, nadda, nothing!

Last.fm DJ Team at Incubate Festival this Saturday Night

The Last.fm DJ Team will be playing this years Incubate Festival in Tilburg, Holland. If you’re about come and check us out on Saturday night from Midnight until 4am at Cul De Sac.

The rest of the line up features Cooly G (whose also playing the November Last.fm Presents at Cargo), Danananananaykroyd, Mad Professor, Rhythm & Sound’s Max Ernestus, Tujiko Noriko, Shackleton + many more. Needless to say we can’t wait to get there!

See you on the dancefloor!

Invasion, LoveLikeFire, Moon Unit, Skull Juice, Boy of Girl and Last.fm DJ Team

Friday 2 October 2009 at 6:00pm

We’re kick-starting our monthly residency at Cargo’s Free Fridays on 2nd October. That’s right, Last.fm Presents will be hosting the first Friday of every month picking the best bands from the weekly hype charts to entertain, and best of all…it’s FREE!!!

Our October line-up sees the arrival of the hottest heavy metal band on the planet Invasion. Having won praise from Vice to NME, via numerous blogs, fanzines and portals due to their ‘new metal’ sound, we’re absolutely chuffed to have secured this three-piece for the launch of their debut album The Master Alchemist.

Fresh from contributing some great music to the recent ‘Supersoul’ compilations on DFA Records, Boy of Girl AKA Moon Unit will be flying in from Berlin to give us a sneak preview of some of the finest Synth-Pop you’ve ever heard.

San Francisco’s LoveLikeFire are also in town so we managed to snag their last UK set before they head home. We’ve been bowled over by their shoe-gazing indie rock for a long time and are very excited to have them performing live!

Filling the gaps we have the mighty Skull Juice AKA Alex Egan and Benedict Bull, responsible for some of the best DJ mixes we’ve heard recently. They’ve been DJ’ing at all the biggest and best parties in town so it was only a matter of time before we managed to book them for a Last.fm Presents show! Add the ever-reliable Last.fm DJ Team to the mix and it’s shaping up to be a pretty incredible Friday night.
